Kelley Cook-ies 2020
Apologies for stale cookies, I tried shipping these 2-day priority but remember when the administration defunded USPS before the election? Yeah things aren’t exactly better (thank you postal workers and a special fuck you to Louis DeJoy!!!!). Good reminder that even though Biden is the president-elect we can’t stop caring.
Anyway I wanted to try a bunch of cookie recipes and what better excuse to do so than to send my friends a holiday treat! Here’s what you got:
Chocolate cardamom brownie cookies (Original recipe) If the entire box tastes like cardamom these are to blame.
Not-so-red-velvet crinkle cookies (Original recipe) I tried making red food coloring out of powdered dried strawberry and campari but that did nothing. Maybe next year I’ll actually get food coloring.
Cream cheese sugar cookies (Original recipe) These were hands down my favorite of the batch.
Rye-cranberry chocolate-chunk cookies (Original recipe) I trust Dorie Greenspan when it comes to cookies, so had to give these a try.
Rye-cherry pecan chip cookies (Original recipe) One of the better batches of rage baking I did this year included a dried cherry, pecan, and chocolate chip combo. I decided to use half of the rye flour cookie dough to make that happen again.
Olive oil and tea vegan shortbread (Original recipe) My coworker’s roommate made these in like 2013 and I asked for the recipe then and never got around to making them until now. I’m not sure it’s a great recipe - I had to increase the amount of olive oil in order to get the dough to form. Definitely one I want to fuck around with more though.
Green tea biscuit cookies I took a cooking class where we made this to go in a mooncake recipe and really enjoyed them. I think I just like tea in cookies and hope you do too!
Happy holidays from the Kelley Cooks Kitchen ❤️
