Mustardy comeback sauce
I came up with this sauce to add to my attempt at Meme’s Diner patty melts. There’s no recipe online for their sandwich sauce, but it’s described as “grainy, mustardy” comeback sauce or russian dressing by the chef and in the media. I don’t have the real thing to compare this to anymore, but it’s a very tasty condiment.
You'll be eating in: 5 minutes
Active time: 5 minutes
Yield: 1/2 cup sauce
teaspoons whole grain dijon mustard
tablespoon briny/acidic liquid like jarred banana pepper juice, white vinegar, or lemon juice
teaspoon hot sauce
teaspoon smoked paprika
teaspoon garlic powder
several cracks of black pepper
salt to taste (1/2 teaspoon should be more than enough, there's already salt in many of the other ingredients)
Whisk everything together until well combined into a pink sauce. Adjust seasoning and spices to taste. Enjoy on sandwiches, with eggs, as a dip for french fries or crudité, or however else you like.
